The
Gaming Regulators European Forum, or GREF in its abbreviated form, consists
of representatives from gaming regulatory organisations throughout Europe.
GREF was founded in 1989 as an association of gambling regulators. See history
of GREF. Its two main objects as stated in its Constitution
are:
a. to provide a forum
in which European gaming regulators can meet, exchange views and information
and discuss policy on gaming matters; and
b. on special occasions and with the agreement of participants represent
the different views of European gaming regulators and also provide a
central point of contact for enquiries directed at them from authorities
or related organisations in Europe and elsewhere.
Participation in the Forum is open to representatives of all gaming regulatory
organisations in all European countries. Participation thus is only open
to representatives from governmental institutions. One regular meeting
of GREF is normally held each year. See agenda.
It is held in a European country in rotation. For information on the last
meeting of GREF, see fact sheets.
GREF has an Executive Board of eight members.
The Executive Board of GREF contains the offices of chairman, vice-chairman,
secretary, treasurer and administrator. GREF has established four Working Groups on specific items.
The different views of European gaming regulators represented by GREF
on specific items can be found on this site under position
statements. This site also contains links to European gaming regulatory
offices under links to regulators and to
other international organisations in the field of gaming under other
links.
More information on GREF is available through its chairman Tom Kavanagh
(UK Gambling Commission, tel. + 44-121-2331096) or its administrator
Eric van Vondelen (Netherlands gaming control board, tel. + 31-70-3614422).
